No longer has the same weight in terms of prestige as before the College Football Playoff was implemented, but reaching No. 1 remains an incredible accomplishment for any program.
Liverpool shouldn't fall out of the top 10 world teams just because of a tough season; form can change, but class is forever.
The Buffalo Bills may not be a popular pick to win a Super Bowl this season, but they are still widely considered championship contenders by major national sports outlets. Their defensive lineup features OLB Von Miller and safety Micah Hyde as top defensive performers while boasting an outstanding secondary. Running back James Cook makes them formidable opponents.
Josh Allen enjoyed a turnover-free performance on Tuesday and has the potential to exploit weak secondaries. Sean McDermott's scheme can benefit greatly from Dalton Kincaid as an outstanding pass catcher tight end.
Nate Davis of USA Today ranks Buffalo No. 5 following an impressive opening game performance against New England Patriots, negating any notion that Josh Allen might have been regressive during Week 1. It will be interesting to see whether they can keep this ranking after Monday night's big clash against Aaron Rodgers and New York Jets.
The Bills will make their presence known on Sunday night in Cincinnati with no shortage of energy or intensity, showcasing one of the most dynamic teams in NFL.
The Bengals have had an eventful history. Beginning their existence as an expansion team under Paul Brown in 1968, their colors (orange and white) and identity was inspired by that of Cleveland Browns, making for an initial sense of continuity and familiarity between teams.
They won their first two AFC championships, in 1981 and 1988, and advanced to Super Bowls XVI and XXIII. Unfortunately, during the 1990s their franchise experienced difficulties due to poor draft picks.
The current Bengals team boasts an outstanding quarterback in Andy Dalton, as well as an elite receiving trio including Ja'Marr Chase, Tyler Boyd and Tee Higgins.

2008 Alabama team did not make this list, but nonetheless deserves recognition due to two events: Their devastating loss against Clemson in their opener (which ultimately hastened Tommy Bowden's departure), and then winning SEC Championship game over Georgia via T.J. Yeldon screen pass recovery from 3rd quarter deficit.
Nick Saban won his fourth title overall and second consecutive championship during his time at Tuscaloosa, though this season's ranking may have some doubts after an unexpected loss to Texas. Still, Alabama are considered popular picks to advance to the semifinals. Other teams to keep an eye on include Florida under pressure again while Texas A&M boasted numerous first-round talent at quarterback as well as Louisville in Jeff Brohm's inaugural year, South Alabama and Troy from Sun Belt conferences.
Ohio State stands out as a team capable of challenging for top spot in college football, returning the most talent on both sides. ESPN's FPI model ranks Ohio State first on offense (based on recent performance) and second on defense (based on recruiting rankings).
Ohio State's quarterback situation remains uncertain, with Kyle McCord or Devin Brown lacking extensive starting experience. But their strong running game should help offset that: C.J. Stroud, Miyan Williams, Dallan Hayden and Henderson return among others for this team's deep running back group.
As Georgia and Alabama before them, Ohio State will need some help from fate to advance into the playoffs. A loss by TCU or USC in their conference championship games could give them a shot at sneaking into the top four teams.
